Computer Problems

It is remarkable how dependent we have become on technology in the twenty-first century. For the past few days, computer problems have prevented me from posting to my blog, reminding me of how integral these tools have become to my work.

I have been maintaining a schedule of three posts per week, something retirement has made possible by giving me time to read, research, and write. Recently, I have also been organizing and downsizing my files. This project has revealed the extent of what I have accumulated during fifty years of preaching and thirty-three years of teaching.

Over the years, I have read hundreds of books and thousands of journal articles. I have accumulated an extensive library of PDF resources that continue to inform my writing. The sheer volume of material—Bible studies, sermons, lectures, class notes, and various other resources—is more than I could likely publish in my remaining years. Yet I am determined to share as much as possible with a wider audience.

In the coming weeks and months, I will be developing these materials into blog posts. Having taught classes on every book of the Old Testament during my teaching career, I am particularly eager to transform those class notes into accessible content. While time-consuming, this process will be rewarding as I revisit decades of study and preparation.

I want to express my deep gratitude to my many students. Your encouragement, participation in class discussions, and probing questions challenged me to deepen my knowledge and sharpen my teaching. I owe you an enormous debt of gratitude.

Now that my computer is repaired, I will resume posting on Monday.

Doctor Mariottini, This makes MY computer happy and eager to be fed by your posts 😀… I’ll enjoy reading your class-notes thus transformed ”into accessible content”. By the way, your Divine Violence and the Character of God made a huge difference in my understanding of many aspects of my faith. Many thanks. Claude Vigneau, Beaconsfield, QC, Canada

    • Claude,

I am glad to know that you enjoy reading my posts. I have received many positive comments about my book Divine Violence and the Character of God. Your own comment validates what other readers have written about the book. If you want, you can post a comment on Amazon. Your positive view of my book will help others enjoy reading it as much as you did.

My new book, Ancient Israel’s Women of Faith: A Survey of the Heroines of the Old Testament will be published on November 18. I am sure you will also enjoy reading about some amazing women of the Old Testament.

I am trying to publish my notes, Bible studies, sermons, and papers as much as I can.

By the way, I like your first name.

Dr Claude, take care of yourself and don’t overdue. We pray to the Father above that you will be around for a long time to come. Even though I was never one of your classroom students and have never met you personally, I have learned so much from your online teaching over the years. You probably don’t remember, but I contacted for some help in preparing lessons on Nehemia during my years in Berlin 2010-2013. I will never forget that.

    • Graig,

Thank your advice. I am glad to know that my posts have been helpful to you.

I do remember your request about material from Nehemiah. I have several writings about Nehemiah that have never been published. I may publish them in the coming days.
