Today was the last day of our annual faculty retreat. Every year, the faculty of Northern Baptist Seminary comes together for two days of spiritual renewal and planning for the upcoming academic year. Because we are in the quarter system, our classes begin on the last Monday in September.
I serve Christ with a fabulous group of committed men and women who love the Lord and work hard to prepare men and women for the work of the ministry. Northern Seminary is an evangelical school which believes that God calls both men and women to serve him and proclaim the good news of Jesus Christ. Many of the readers of this blog are women who graduated from Northern Seminary. These women are serving as pastors, missionaries, and chaplains all over the world. Many of our former students are teachers in colleges, universities, and seminaries.
This year, Northern Seminary is celebrating its 100th anniversary. Over the years, Northern has graduated many great leaders of the evangelical world. Famous evangelicals such as Carl F. Henry, the founder of Christianity Today, Kenneth Taylor, the translator of The Living Bible, Millard Erickson, the renowned evangelical theologian, and Herbert Lockyer Jr., who wrote, with his father, many books in the All Bible Study Series, graduated from Northern Baptist Seminary. There are many other famous graduates of Northern Seminary who made an impact on the evangelical world.
