Khirbet Qeiyafa

CNN has an interesting video on the archaeological excavation at Khirbet Qeiyafa, a site in the Valley of Elah. The site is important because it is from the 10th century BCE and because the site probably was part of David’s Kingdom.

The video is called “Finding the City of David.” The video contains the following statement: “Archaeologists in Israel believe they have found the remains of the legendary City of David.”  However, the content of the video does not deal with Jerusalem, where the city of David was located, but with the remains of Khirbet Qeiyafa.

The video presents Yosef Garfinkel discussing the importance of Khirbet Qeiyafa and how it was related to David’s kingdom. Israel Finkelstein also appears in the video disputing Garfinkel’s claim that Khirbet Qeiyafa was a part of David’s kingdom.
