>Making Jim West Happy

>Jim West will love this headline in the Louisville Courier-Journal:

Headline:

Creation Museum’s attendance exceeds expectations

Reason:

Displays assert that genetics and archaeology had “confirmed” various Biblical stories and that complex human organs couldn’t have evolved from simpler forms.

I know that when archaeology confirms the Bible, Jim West is happy.

    >Having grown up in a conservative Jewish home, I never felt the social pressures to accept a young Earth or reject evolutionary theory. As far as I was (and am) concerned, the science says dinosaurs lived millions of years before the existence of man. (And an aside, this was one of my favorite childhood books.)But my wife's siblings, who were brought up home schooled until High School are all adamantly anti-evolution, hardly willing to entertain any notions remotely "darwinian." As the younger kids move onto high school and college, I have to wonder how their faith will be challenged, if at all, as they come up against the scientific consensus that sharply disagrees with what they see as a basic tenant of their faith.

  4. >Nate,Thank you for your statement. I have never read the book you mentioned in your link, but you can be sure that the book will be included in my Summer reading. The problem your wife’s siblings are facing is the same problem many Christians face because some people believe that if you accept the existence of dinosaurs, then you don’t believe in the Bible.Let me suggest a book that your relatives should read. It is not easy reading but it is a great book. The title of the book is God According to God: A Physicist Proves We've Been Wrong About God All Along by Gerald L. Schroeder. Schroeder is a Jewish physicist who deals with the Big Bang, science, and how science relates to belief in God. Maybe this book will help them understand that science does not destroy faith.Claude Mariottini

    >If you find it and have time to read it (it's a huge tome, I know) I hope you find something valuable in it, all I know that at the time it was sufficient that it had pictures of dinosaurs in it. (I've always been partial to dinosaurs, I saw Jurassic Park eight times when it came out in 1993.) Thank you for the suggestion, I will try to find the book and read it myself.
