>What Would Jesus Do? : Politics and the Bible

>The Republican presidential debate on November 28, 2007 in St. Petersburg, Florida focused on the role of the Bible on the life of the candidates.

Two questions reflect the mood of the audience: “Is every word in the Bible true?” and “What would Jesus do?”

To the question, “What would Jesus do?”, Mike Huckabee said: “Jesus was too smart to ever run for public office.’’

Do the candidates believe that the Bible is true? Mitt Romney, Rudy Giuliani, Mike Huckabee offer their views about the Bible here.

  1. Pistol Pete says:

    >Huckabee clearly takes the plain meaning of Scripture very seriously (though I would disagree with him on the death penalty issue). Perhaps even more importantly, he shows he can take his faith seriously yet maintain a sense of humor.

  2. >Pete:Thank you for your comment. As a Baptist preacher, Huckabee was in a better postion to answer the question. When it comes to expressing some issues, Huckabee is ahead of the others. One may disagree with him in some political issues, but, as you said, he takes his faith seriously.
