In order to demonstrate how Jesus “devoured” our sins, Joe Aguillard, president of Louisiana College, a Baptist-affiliated institution, “devoured” a live earthworm during a recent chapel service on campus.
The content of this video is a real bad example of Biblical exegesis, but one has to watch the video in order to learn that some preachers will go a long away to make a point that could easily be made without all the theatrics.

Hey Doc,
I agree, this is going too far!

Jerry,
There are better ways to preach the gospel than this. I just wonder what would Jesus think about this kind of display.

well i’m all for memorable sermon illustrations, but to do that half way through your appeal means no one is thinking about Christ but only “that guy just ate a worm!”

Jonathan,
That’s right. People will forget the sermon but they will remember the worm.

Your unspiritual and unjust criticism of a short segment of a series of messages that were led by the Holy Spirit to touch young people to understand the sewerage and nasty nature of sin and Jesus having taken them away- disclaimed by the presenter that it was not the best example but an effort to get students to think about their sin- culminated in many students getting saved. None of the comments above even hinted at the end result of the messages – over 1100 college students coming to Christ over this time period. You should be praising God for HIS work – not criticizing the feeble attempts of HIS messenger trying to share the gospel. 2 Chronicles 36:16 But they mocked God’s messengers, despised his words and scoffed at his prophets until the wrath of the LORD was aroused against his people and there was no remedy.
