    As always, very interesting and informative. However, I still have a difficult time thinking the story is history and not some sort of allegory/parable. I am still trying to reconcile the picture it presents of God to the picture of Him in the rest of the Bible.

    • Noel,

      The book of Job should be considered didactic teaching. The book is a theological book that seeks to address the problem of retribution. As how to reconcile the God of the book of Job with the God of the Old Testament, read my post next week. My post will study the speeches of Yahweh.
