>Messianic Jews

>Did you know that there are more than 15,000 Messianic Jews in Israel?

Did you know that there are more than 350,000 Messianic Jews in the USA?

Read the testimony of Messianic Jews in this article published by Ynetnews.

According to this report, Messianic Jews face many challenges. The article about Messianic Jews published by Ynetnews concludes with this statement:

For a community living under the perpetual wrath of the haredim, who for the most part alienate and discriminate against them, Messianic Jews remain inexplicably optimistic. Perhaps it is because they still follow in the footsteps of that Galilee-born Jew who wandered into Jerusalem 2,000 years ago, the one who believed in turning the other cheek.

    >The thing is, it's not just haredim who have issues with this sect. Every mainstream Jewish community rejects "Messianic Judaism" as anything but Christianity. Select members of the sect may be Jews by birth, but are not practitioners of an accepted form of Judaism. If you look at their practices, while they borrow heavily from Judaism, their performance of their religion and doctrines are firmly Christian. And, at least in the United States, when you enter a Messianic "synagogue", very few of the people there are actually Jewish; most are gentiles who enjoy the Jewish elements and find them more "authentic," but in no way could be considered Jewish under any person's understanding of what it means to be a Jew.While there will always be a sect that seeks to hold onto a "Jewish" form of Christianity, this ultimately is a fad that will not last. Within a generation or two, the children of these Messianic congregants—even those who are actually of Jewish descent—will not consider themselves Jewish. Just like Marranos in Spain, they will eventually integrate into non-existence with their Christian neighbors. I have seen it myself, where the second-generation Messianics consider themselves entirely Christian, out of place in "Messianic" settings, associate with other Christians and will marry Christians and raise them completely Christian with no Jewish pretense.

  2. >Nate,It is nice hearing from you again. It seems that Messianic Jews have a difficult time being accepted by the Jewish community. This is the reason many Messianic Jews decide to associate with Christians. They need acceptance but they cannot find it within Judaism. The parting of the ways that occurred in the first century continues today.Claude Mariottini
