Photo: Phillip’s Tomb
An Italian archaeologist has announced that he has found the tomb of Phillip, one of the apostles of Jesus.
Very little is known about Phillip. According to the gospel of John, Phillip was from Bethsaida, the same city where Andrew and Peter lived (John 1:44). In the New Testament, Phillip was the one who brought the Greek to Jesus (John 12:20-21). According to some early Christian documents, this is the same Phillip who appears in Acts 8 preaching to the Samaritans and the Ethiopian eunuch.
According to early church tradition, Phillip was killed by the Romans during the persecution of the church in the first century A.D.
