Joseph’s Tomb Set on Fire

Israel National News is reporting that the Palestinians have set Joseph’s tomb on fire.

Dozens of Palestinian Authority Arabs rioted at Joseph’s Tomb (Kever Yosef) late Tuesday night and set it on fire, one week after PA police murdered Ben Yosef Livnat after he prayed at the Jewish holy site.

Local Arabs “celebrated” the murder by setting fires at the cave, the traditional burial place of the Biblical Joseph. PA Muslims have desecrated Kever Yosef several times in the past, even burning a Torah scroll. Two years ago, worshippers discovered freshly painted graffiti of swastikas a day after Holocaust Memorial Day, along with boot prints of Palestinian Authority police.

It is tragic that the political situation in Israel is causing the desecration of holy places and historical monuments.  Those who perpetrated such an infamous act will not draw sympathy to their cause.

It is a tragedy what was done to the traditional burial place of Joseph.  People may disagree with the politics that divide Palestinians and Israelis, but all agree that the desecration of holy places is not the way to resolve the divide that separates the two people.

My heart is truly sad when I read this. You spoke truth when you said they lose what support the hoped to gain because sympathy will not be extended to them for this act. It will only increase hatred towards them and mistrust. How sad indeed.
